Ulyana Sergeenko
A fashion doodle I did out of admiration for this artist. Ulyana Sergeenko is an editor at Glamour Russia as well as a fashion designer. I just love her feminine flair! To view her work, check out her Fall 2011 Lookbook here!
Good night and good luck!

Fall Update
This fall was crazy busy, but I'm not complaining. I just don't seem to update this blog when that happens!
I have been working at the animation house, "Awesome and Modest" and its been a lot of designing and water color painting. So much fun, but definitely hard work! Unfortunately, I can't post any of my work from there until the project we are working on has been officially presented to the public. In time... in time...
HOWEVER, I can show some stuff I have been drawing for another client of mine, which ventures into the kids book realm. Of course, these are just rough sketches and the finishes won't be posted for some time due to publishing reasons.
I can't go into detail on these guys, but I have a feeling you will be seeing/ hearing a lot more about them. :)
Till next time!

Lana Del Rey Study
Hello all!
I promise to update more frequently! Its been a busy couple of weeks full with prep work. Hopefully by October I will be able to post regularly- Especially since I do love the Halloween season!
But all things aside, I needed to get this off my desktop and on the internet.

Lana Del Rey sure is a great muse. She's quite pretty and has interesting features. It was nice to approach this a piece with more detail than my previous illustration of her (listed below on this blog). A bit of a switch from my whimsical childrens' work.
I do not own the original photo or the content of which this illustration was based off of. This was a study. HOWEVER, the illustration itself is mine as is the colorization of the piece.
Till Next Time!

54 ft Mural? "My Hearts In a Whirl..."
So this summer was one very busy season. Working part time and still doing artwork on the side, I have never felt a summer to be as crazy as college was. However, I won't complain. Its been a magical summer with opportunities blossoming at a constant... Definitely a switch from how it started."...I love, I love, I love, I love my little Calendar Girl!"
I apologize for not updating in so long. Honestly, a lot of the work was just not ready for viewing, but I think I can start filling y'all in now. :)
About three weeks ago, a friend of mine filled me in on a commission that entailed painting a 54 ft long by 12 ft high mural for a synchronized swimming show. The theme: Calendar Girls. I thought, "Wow, that sounds exciting and completely insane. Of course I'll do it!" Next thing I knew I drawing sketches whilst my boyfriend played hours of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
Then after lots of primer, I was sketching these lovely swim girls on the boards, built to be placed together in a line for the show. I had a lot of help with painting the big areas- My was I thankful!

One week later, I was on my hands and knees painting. Did I mention I was also knee deep in paint? How messy! But all in all, it was completed in time for the show.
By Day and By Night.
My personal favorite!
Looking forward to the next big project, but I'll keep that under wraps for now.
Stay tuned!

Lover's Quarrel
During our free time, which isn't very often, my boyfriend and I love to battle it out in video games. Then is when we see the true colors of our personalities.
Clearly, I'm just a tad bit more theatrical and aggressive with my fighting style.
He, on the other hand, is takes on the defense and approaches things a little less seriously.
...and he always wins.

Sometimes less is more.
Black and white with some major adjustments from the original pencil sketch.
Kind of has a Brian Froud feel, no?

Little Girls
These "little girl" studies were a lot of fun to draw. I tried playing around with the style for each one. The black and white ones are of my cousin once removed, Charlotte.
Isn't she adorable? Love her facial expressions!
The roughly colored illustration below is her Goldilocks lookalike cousin, Lucy.
My cousin, Rachel, has such a beautiful family! I want to draw Sophie, Charlotte's older sister, next... hopefully I can spend more time on these towards the end of the month.

Been Tied Up Lately... In Hair.
So its been forever since I've updated. No excuses, I know.
SUPREME WORK IN PROGRESS.
Just had to show something on this blog. Been feeling neglectful. So busy...
The colors aren't there yet, and neither is the background, haha.
This hopefully will be the beginning of a new series. Certainly a 180ยบ from my other stuff. However, being an artist is about growth. I used to do this kind of work all of the time and choose to go the "children's" route for a while after. Presently, I see the benefit of combining such skills. Hopefully my vision will be realized.

More From "The Paintrs"
Here are a few thumbnails for my next big project, "The Paintrs."
Here, we see Piggle, the pig, Sol, the seal, and Carine, the cat. Call them artists, if you wish. These animals are friends with Peck, the bird, who is present in the previous post. They all live in their natural environment made into studios.
More to come of course- expect some 3D elements in the next few posts!

Spring Is Coming! And So Are "The Paintrs"
Some exciting things are happening this spring!
Namely, a brand new project. I am currently working with the talented Hoon Chong, Creative Director at motion graphics studio, Suspect Inc., on a to-be stop motion animation and a package for product collection. The title of project is subject to change, but for lack there of a specific name, it will be called "The Paintrs," (Paint-ers) for now. These "Paintrs" have the special ability to (without being redundant) paint, but in a most unusual way. For one example, the little birdies below can color eggs with their beaks. Other animals have different outlets for their creativity.More to come- More to show! For now, just a few fast ideas...

Lana Del Rey
Given that most of the time while doing work, I'm listening to music, I decided to do a little drawing devoted to just that. Lately, I've been on a Lana Del Ray kick... I might do more of her, but for now, here's a simple fashion inspired portrait.
For prints, please inquire!

Can't Resist Those Red Heads!
A product of some free time. She kind of reminds me of Misty (Kasumi) from Pokemon. What do you think?
Dizis (Disorder Dolls)
Mixed Media Reliefs
These are the Dizis (AkA Disorder Dolls). A bit of a darker subject, these mix doll heads represent different learning or psychological disabilities. Listed down as Schizophrenia, Language Processing Disorder, ADHD, and the parent product (how children are contained from properly expressing themselves) respectively. The intention was to showcase in almost a beautiful way how these "disorders" can actually be gifts. Ultimately, they make you special and different. Then again what is normal?

Dara Puspita
Reintroducing the Dara Puspita! They were an Indonesian Sixties AGOGO group. Very controversial for a then soviet nation. But against all odds, their music rocked and continues to! Be sure to look them up online- its very reminiscent of the Beach Boys, but with a female garage twist.
Eurydice In The Red
Eurydice from the old Greek Myth, "Orpheus." This was a bit of a recreation of the character. Being a wood nymph, I wanted to put her in a natural environment. This environment consists of Japanese red maple, which in this case is symbolic of blood. Blood is representative of both life and death- Something Eurydice is on the bridge between as well.
The Great Gatsby • Daisy
I am so excited for the new Great Gatsby movie, coming out in May 2013. I like the idea of Daisy being a blonde, so I decided to do a quick illustration of her on my down time. Hope Carey does a great job! We all know Leonardo will be fabulous...
